About Kikwetu Flowers

We Specialize in Growing & Exporting Premium Kenyan Flowers

Welcome to Kikwetu Flowers. Established in 2019, we are a flower farm located in the Timau region of Kenya, which specializes in growing and exporting premium T-hybrid roses.

Our 15ha farm stands high at 2450m above sea level, making it ideal for the production of high-quality premium roses. It is a beautiful and efficiently run rose farm with a spectacular view of Mt Kenya.

Currently, we have 34 varieties planted, and we plan to increase this number by the end of the year. Our varieties have long stems that range between 50cm to 90cm, and head sizes that range between 5cm to 7cm.

Our team consists of well-trained growers who keenly react to the needs of each variety. A final touch is added to our product by ensuring that our roses are always kept within desired temperatures.

Our cold chain is complete with cold rooms on the farm that run for 24 hours/day, and Thermo King refrigerated trucks that carry our roses to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, ready for export.

At Kikwetu Flowers we are energy conscious, and we try to use as much green energy as possible through the use of solar panels to power our machinery, and Donkeys for the transportation of flowers to our pack house.

To efficiently use our water, we have a Dam at the bottom of the farm that collects rainwater from all of our buildings and greenhouses. It also collects recycled water from our wetland.

Our Story

We Provide Various Types Of Flowers For You

Kikwetu is a Swahili word that means “our style”.

Kikwetu Flowers is a family business that is owned and run by 4 family members. The farm employs 250 people mostly from the local community, and 50% of them are women.

Our farm is located right in the centre of a small rural community in Ngusishi, Timau. The entire community is involved in the farm in one way or another and a culture of working together with people from other far-off communities is slowly developing making Kikwetu a unique blend of cultures.

Right from the beginning, we understood the special needs of the community and moved in to partner with the locals to improve the shared access road making it an all-weather road and to provide free clean drinking water to the community.

The Kikwetu community spirit quickly produced a football team that was champion in the region for 2020/21.
